PRACTICAL INFORMATION:
Your day begins at 8:30 AM with a comfortable minivan pickup from your accommodation in Luang Prabang. We travel north for approximately one hour to Ban Hat Kor, a peaceful riverside village where your kayaking adventure starts.
From the village, paddle along the serene Nam Ou River, surrounded by lush countryside and striking natural limestone formations known as Pha Aen. This gentle stretch of river is perfect for enjoying the scenery at a relaxed pace and soaking in the calm beauty of rural Laos.
Around midday, we stop along the riverbank to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch. After lunch, take time to unwind, swim, and recharge before continuing the journey.
In the afternoon, we resume kayaking through a calmer section of the Nam Ou, eventually reaching the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers at Pak Ou. Here, you’ll visit the renowned Pak Ou Caves, a pair of sacred caves filled with thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues left by pilgrims over generations. You’ll have approximately 30 minutesto explore the caves.
The adventure continues as you begin the final kayaking section on the Mekong River, paddling downstream for about 30 minutesto Manifa Elephant Camp. Upon arrival, you’ll have access to showers and changing facilities.
