BESCHRIJVING:

If you are drawn to the elegance of French colonial architecture and have a deep interest in UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Laos, Luang Prabang is a destination not to be missed. This historic town is home to remarkably well preserved buildings that reflect French influence, creating a romantic atmosphere that evokes the charm of France. Our one day Luang Prabang city tour offers a carefully curated experience, allowing you to explore the city’s rich heritage, cultural beauty, and timeless appeal all in a single day. We join the sacred alms giving ritual, explore the vibrant morning market, visit iconic temples including Wat Xieng Thong, discover royal heritage and local crafts, support monks with donations, and we’ll enjoy panoramic views from Mount Phousi in this UNESCO listed cultural gem.

BESCHRIJVING:

We wake up very early (5:30) to join the sacred alms giving ceremony, one of the most meaningful traditions in Lao culture, as hundreds of monks walk silently through the streets. Please note that respectful dress is required during the ceremony: shoulders, chest, and legs must be covered.

After the ceremony, we 'll explore the lively morning market to discover local products or enjoy a bowl of traditional noodle soup with the locals.

After breakfast, we continue our Luang Prabang tour with visits to Wat Visoun and Wat Mai, admired for their ancient architecture and intricate sculptures. The journey continues to Wat Xieng Thong, the most iconic temple in Luang Prabang and a masterpiece of Lao religious architecture.

Next, we visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre, the first exhibition space and fair trade store dedicated to preserving and presenting the traditional arts, crafts, and lifestyles of Laos’ ethnic communities.

In the afternoon, we'll explore the National Museum, formerly the Royal Palace, home to the sacred Prabang Buddha statue and royal gifts from foreign dignitaries.

We stop at the Hmong Market and craft shops to browse handmade souvenirs before climbing Mount Phousi, where panoramic views of the ancient town await.

The tour concludes with a visit to a Buddhist high school, where you may donate books and pens to young monks at Wat Pa Phonpao, followed by a visit to local handicraft workshops and traditional paper making.
